Reminiscing has its Rewards
Three decades ago, an internationally competitive faculty was assembled under a dynamic founding dean to bring the Aga Khan University Medical College to life. In time, this effort blossomed into the renowned institution that we are proud to belong to today. As a new generation embraces AKU and its future, we invite you to a conversation with three key founding faculty members of the Medical College – Dr. Camer Vellani, Dr. Mohammad Khurshid, and Dr. Perwaiz Iqbal.
Dr. Saad Shafqat, class of ’98, will moderate and there will be full audience participation.
Dr. Camer Vellani
Dr. Camer Vellani joined AKU in 1979 and is now Distinguished University Professor Emeritus. He has served in a number of key positions, including Chair of Medicine, Associate Dean for Education, and Rector.
Dr. Perwaiz Iqbal
Dr. Perwaiz Iqbal joined AKU in 1983 as the first faculty member in Biochemistry. His teaching abilities are legendary and he has also served as Acting Chair, Biochemistry Department and Interim Chair, BBS Department.
Dr. Mohammad Khurshid
Dr. Mohammad Khurshid joined AKU in 1984 and was the founding Chair of Pathology. He has also served as the University Hospital’s Medical Director and, most recently, Dean of the Medical College.

AKU Delegation Visit in USA
Dear Alumni friends,
An Aga Khan University delegation, headed by Mr Firoz Rasul, University President, will be visiting the United States in June with the purpose of interacting with various University stakeholders. In addition to meeting and providing an update on University activities to our US-based donors, Mr Rasul, along with a number of members of the senior leadership, is planning special sessions with alumni which will provide an opportunity to reconnect with AKU and to meet with colleagues living in the region.
The alumni events are currently planned to take place as follows:

| June 9, 11:00 AM | Saturday | Atlanta Alumni Reception and Brunch |
| June 11, 8:00 PM | Monday | Chicago Alumni Reception and Dinner |
| June 16, 11:00 AM | Saturday | Los Angeles Alumni Reception and Brunch |
| June 23, 11:00 AM | Saturday | New York Alumni Reception and Brunch |
The programme will consist of a reception followed by dinner to which all alumni and spouses are invited. We are planning on holding the events in metropolitan areas of the cities listed above; details with respect to specific venues will be communicated shortly. In order to help organise, I would ask you to kindly provide us with some information:
