Members of the AKUAANA Executive Council meet via conference call at regular intervals (weekly or fortnightly) to discuss AKUAANA initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities of AKUAANA Officers:
President:
The President’s role is to:
- maintain an active and positive relationship with the Aga Khan University Leadership – in particular with:
- the Dean of the Medical College;
- the University Registrar who is responsible for Alumni Affairs;
- the Director General for Resource Development, who is responsible for fundraising;
- the Vice President for Human Resources, who is responsible for recruiting alumni and others to positions that need to be filled by AKU internationally
- maintain an active and positive relationship with the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America – AKUAANA is a component society of APPNA. All alumni presidents within APPNA are ex-officio members of APPNA’s Executive Council and represent their alumni’s vote on APPNA’s Executive Council
- establish AKUAANA documentation as the association evolves
- steer AKUAANA to fulfil its vision of contributing to it’s alma mater as well as serving the needs of its members. This is done by providing leadership to AKUAANA’s Executive Committee and Council
Secretary:
The Secretary is responsible for:
- all administrative tasks related to AKUAANA
- electronic communication with alumni, AKU and APPNA
- coordination of activities that the Alumni Association undertakes e.g. Medical College candidate interviews, AKUAANA annual reunions, alumni meetings, liaising with other institutions etc.
- assisting the President in executing tasks as required
- maintaining meeting minutes, following up on required action items and tracking progress of projects and activities undertaken by the Association
- working collaboratively with project leads and committee chairs
- responding to inquiries forwarded to AKUAANA from members
- upkeeping of established AKUAANA documents e.g. membership package, AKUAANA Constitution etc.
- collaborating with the Treasurer in maintaining AKUAANA’s legal non profit status e.g. filing of annual reports etc.
- attending APPNA Executive Council meetings on behalf of the President, when required
- mediating any conflicts that arise between alumni and the university e.g. loan recovery.
- taking on the role of chair on project based committees
Treasurer:
The Treasurer is responsible for:
- maintaining AKUAANA’s financial records and managing AKUAANA’s bank account
- liaising with APPNA with regards to membership and financial transactions
- collaborating with the Secretary in maintaining AKUAANA’s legal non profit status e.g. filing of annual reports etc.
- liaising with the Web Manager with regards to membership and financial transactions
- taking on the role of chair on project based committees
Web Manager
The Web Manger is responsible for:
- maintaining all facets of AKUAANA’s web presence, e.g. website, discussion board, Facebook page, Twitter account, Google+ page
- updating the AKUAANA’s web presence with up-to-date content/news
- performing all administrative tasks related to the AKUAANA’s website, e.g. updating CMS with latest version(s), maintaining backups
- keeping up to date with latest developments for software, plugins and themes installed on the AKUAANA website, including WordPress, Genesis, MemberPress, XenForo
- liaising with the President, Secretary and Treasurer with regards to uploading website content
- maintaining the mail exchange for all @akuaana.org email addresses
- maintaining and integrating webmail list servers with the AKUAANA website
- helping with composing and sending out emails and newsletters, as and when needed
- looking after website membership/sign-ups/traffic
- uploading pertinent documents and resources to the website, e.g. match lists, AKU-NAMA editions
- putting up advertisements of partner associations on the website
Class and/or Regional Representatives and/or Project Leads:
The Class and/or Regional Representatives and/or Project Leads are responsible for:
- disseminating bilateral information between the Executive Committee and their class&/or region
- participating in, and may also chair, project based committees with a responsibility to report back to the Executive Committee
- advertising AKUAANA activities and seeking alumni engagement
- helping in planning activities/events
- assisting with updating alumni contact information
