Electives Committee

The Electives Committee is an ad hoc advisory committee that is approved by the Executive Council to:

1. Collaborate with the AKUMC Elective Office
2. Develop a Position Statement for Medical Students and AKU Alumni regarding Elective process and expectations
3. Develop new relationships with North American institutions to facilitate electives and potential future reciprocation in areas of student and faculty visits/research collaboration etc.

All recommendations made by the Electives Committee will be voted on by the Executive Council for approval.

The official AKUAANA Position Statement and recommendations to AKU Alumni in North America regarding AKUMC medical student elective requests can be viewed here. Please note that the committee’s role does not include assisting in providing electives to students.

The Electives Committee will work under the guidance of Habib Chotani, ’95 (Immediate Past President) and Faisal Cheema, ’00 (Treasurer). Current members of the Electives Committee are named below.
